1 YEAR
Hi BeeMee/A.L.I.C.E. Friends!
I screamed "It's gonna BeeMee!" on Utah State University campus hill one year ago. The two youngest yet biggest supporters in my life stood next to me with embarrassment flooding their cheeks, mixed in with what I'd like to think a little pride showing in the smiles across their faces.
Since then, I've had moments where I felt like giving up and others like I could take on the world. I've received both support from strangers and skepticism from close friends and family. The ebbs and flows have forged a path to today, where I'm still standing on the hill arms stretched open.
Here's what we've done in the past year:
Launched BeeMee, live in the app stores
Set up at the Larimer County Fair in Loveland, CO as a Platinum Sponsor
Ran our first Kickstarter campaign
Got BeeMee's trademark through the National Trademark Gazette review
Went therapy hopping through SLC, Park City, and Heber, building relationships with clinics and treatment centers
Started developing TheraBee, the clinical companion side of this work
Reiki certified
Partnered with H.E.A.R.T. (Homeless Engagement And Resource Team) at the SLC resource fair
Invited to promote BeeMee as a mental health support tool at PIK2AR (Pacific Islander Knowledge 2 Action Resources) annual heritage fair
Last week we set up for our second resource fair in SLC with H.E.A.R.T. We handed out personal hygiene items (thank you to everyone who donated!) along with some of our commemorative BeeMee pocket chips, and free access to TheraBeeMee. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and I made some genuine connections I'm looking forward to building on.
I grew up learning how to garden from my parents, and now keep a garden of my own. As gardeners know, the plants don't grow because you stand over them willing it. You keep showing up to water as needed, pull back the weeds taking essential nutrients, keep the landscape clear of pests, and otherwise you let it do what it's going to do - with some words of encouragement along the way. That's what this year has felt like for me: tending something that was already alive and letting it find its own shape. The Hive in BeeMee works the same way for you. You're not forcing growth. You're giving each part of your life what it needs, when it needs it, and letting yourself grow and change at your own pace.
August 1st, we'll be part of PIK2AR's Pacific Island Heritage Month celebration! Check out an intro to the event on Fox13 Good Day Utah's show Friday July 31st.
Pioneer Day in Utah this week, school's back next month. A few more weeks of summer still!
What's one thing in your life that's finally showing its shape after a long ebb and flow?
Have a beautiful month!
